Web Application

The term 'Web application' typically refers to an application or program that is accessed with a Web browser over a network such as the Internet or an Intranet.  Web applications can serve users without installing software on the client computers making them easy to deploy and maintain. Common Web applications include Webmail, online auctions and online forums.

Currently there is a movement in the computer industry to further advance the concept of software as a service that can be used on a subscription basis. A company that follows this approach is referred to as an 'application software provider' or ASP.  Building Web applications require considerable evaluation into issues involving functionality, security and practicality.  Therefore, consulting with specialists is heavily advised.
